An obstacle is “a thing that blocks one’s way or prevents or hinders progress.” Many of us have been somewhat rather introspective over the past few weeks as a new year has come upon us. We have begun to make an inventory on our lives and identify the changes we want to make. The reality is, many of us never make the changes we want because there are too many obstacles in our way. Most of us have an idea of where we would like to be in the next 1, 3, 5 and even 10 years. Is this wise? Shouldn’t we be focused on today?
Obstacles vary. Some are big and some are minute. No matter what the obstacles are, they affect us. They overwhelm us and frustrate us. Some obstacles cause us to want to throw in the towel and quit, while others cause us to curl up in the fetal position and cry. No matter what our response is to the obstacles we are facing, a key to overcoming is our attitude. An attitude is a pattern of thinking. A way of looking at things. What obstacles are you facing right now?
Marriage
Finances
Relationships
Work
Family
What is your attitude towards them?
Here is a closing thought I want to leave you with to ponder. Some obstacles are disguised as opportunities.
