Definition:
a thing that blocks one’s way or prevents or hinders progress.
They are everywhere and come in all shapes and sizes.
The issue isn’t what obstacle am I facing, but rather, what is my attitude towards the obstacle?
James puts it this way:
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. (James 1:2-4 ESV)
Some obstacles are actually disguised as opportunities.
Overcoming our obstacles begin when we identify what they are.
What’s in your way? What are you doing about it? What is hindering your progress? What is your response when you face obstacles?
Is it an attitude?
Is it your health?
Is it an unhealthy relationship?
Is it fear?
Is it insecurity?
Is it a lack of resources?
Is it confusion?
Is it a lack of faith?
Is it pride?
Is it laziness?
We all have a goal in mind. We have an ideal we would love to live. We can envision what we would like to see for our lives, but we come across obstacles.
How do I get from here to there?
What obstacles are in my way?
At times, I am the obstacle.
What is it that is slowing your down? What gets in your way from completing the task at hand? Something to consider today.
