Such a tragic event has taken place in Orlando, Florida. Please continue to pray for all those affected by this horrible tragedy.

Do you remember your first tweet? I didn’t. I had to use this site to find out what profound, and eloquent statement I made way back in 2009. Since that first tweet, I have always enjoyed using Twitter for various reasons that I will share in a moment. First, I want to say that no matter what your opinion is of Twitter, this is just my brief synopsis of why I use Twitter. Remember, opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one.
Reason One – News/Information Resource
You can’t believe everything you read on the internet. More and more I rely on the various news agencies, journalists, sports teams, and cultural misfits that I follow on Twitter. Be careful to follow credible and even verified accounts. There are a lot of fake accounts, so watch out.
Reason Two – Sports & Entertainment
I love Twitter for this very reason. There have been lot of amazing discoveries I have made while flipping through various tweets. I follow all my favourite teams, athletes, and sports personalities on Twitter. Using Twitter has allowed me to see behind the scenes footage of different sporting events that I wouldn’t be able to see on regular cable television.
Reason Three – Access/Engagement
It is a very cool experience when you get to engage with those you follow or those who follow you. My father would often say to me as a kid, “you only get out what you put in.” What does this statement have to do with anything I have said? Well, I guess what I am trying to say is that if you want to have engagement while using Twitter, you need to engage. Don’t wait around hoping that someone will read or RT your tweet. It doesn’t work that way. You need to initiate the interactions!
Reason Four – The Little Red Heart
This is my most favourite feature of Twitter. I use the ‘heart’ on a regular basis. I find it helpful when I am in a hurry, I can ‘heart’ the tweet, and go back to it at a later time. Love. Love. Love this feature!
What about you? Do you use Twitter? Why?
