24 Hours Later & Our Next Steps

It has been a crazy 24 hours. I still find it hard to wrap my mind around everything right now but to be honest I remain hopeful. Jamie has had her moments as anyone would with news like this but this morning we woke up knowing we are not alone. Nola, Memphis and River are all doing great. I don’t think they completely understand the gravity of what is going on but we continue to live our lives with as much normalcy as possible. We are excited for school to begin again as it will be a good distraction for them as I begin treatment. Many have asked what we are doing for treatment so I thought I would share in this post some of our next steps. We don’t know everything that will be involved but we are preparing ourselves for whatever comes our way. On Monday I have an appointment with my doctor who preformed my colonoscopy. It’s is just a routine follow up and he wants to meet with me regarding my appointment yesterday. On Wednesday morning I meet with my oncologist to learn more about my treatment plan. I will begin chemo either that day or in the days that follow. We will hopefully know more when we meet with him. On Thursday we have an appointment with Integrated Health in Ft. Langley. Integrated Health Clinic is a Naturopathic Health & Cancer Care Centre. We strongly believe in a two prong approach to my healing process. We have already begun by making major changes to my diet and we spend a lot of time juicing. I have been amazed by the positive changes I have seen in my energy levels and overall health since making these changes. In the next post I want to share some of the recipes we have been using for meals and juices. I didn’t think I was going to be able to eat this way but I have been completely surprised by some of the choices that are out there. It doesn’t hurt to have an amazing, supportive wife in my corner. She has taken real good care of our family. She truly is a Proverbs 31 woman. We don’t know how long the chemo process will be and we don’t know what other treatments may be involved but I am determined to whatever it takes to beat this. We don’t have the entire picture of what will happen in our lives over the next few months and to be honest we don’t need to know. We remain confident and hopeful of the One walks with us. Thanks for all you love and support and please share our story with your friends and your family. Jamie and I want to be a source of hope and encouragement to others as we know we are not the only ones walking through something difficult right now.
